Travel Referee Program
Referees are essential to ensuring a fair and safe experience for players, coaches, and spectators. WYSA is committed to maintaining a well-trained referee team for both Intown and Travel soccer.
A certified referee assignor will oversee assignments for all fall travel games and U10 games and assistant referees in the spring, while a Middlesex Youth Soccer League assignor will handle all other spring travel games. Assignments are based on competency, experience, and age appropriateness.
Certified WYSA referees are required to complete annual recertification to remain eligible to officiate. WYSA also encourages travel referees to participate in training seminars and referee assessments to continue advancing their certification level.
For in-town referees, or individuals pursuing a Grade 8 certification, WYSA will reimburse the cost of the referee course upon successful completion and officiating a minimum of four games.
