Intown Referee Program

All WYSA Intown soccer games are officiated by referees selected from WYSA Intown soccer players. To be eligible to officiate, Intown referees must meet the following criteria:

  • Be in at least 5th grade.
  • Be a member in good standing of a WYSA-sponsored team.
  • Successfully complete the WYSA Intown referee training orientation.
  • Have a solid understanding of the game of soccer.

The WYSA Intown Referee Coordinator will assign games fairly to all eligible referees throughout the season. Whenever possible, two referees will be assigned per game, pairing novice referees with experienced ones while ensuring age-appropriate assignments.

WYSA evaluates referees based on coach feedback and board member observations, providing additional training as needed. Referees must maintain a safe game environment, and those lacking the necessary skills will not officiate until qualified.

WYSA encourages Intown referees to pursue training to become certified Travel referees.
