  1. Meeting called to order at 6:06 by Rich Pereira

 

  1. President Opening Remarks:
    1. Greetings;
    2. PPE and Coaches Review – be prepared to help;
    3. Parent grievances to be discussed in executive session (held early to accommodate parents arrival at 6:30).
  2. Secretary:
    1. Motion: To accept the April 2018 Meeting Minutes as presented by Dave O’, 2nd by Mike, 16-0-0 Motion passes;

 

  1. VP of Development
    1. PCD group met and voted to have a Code of Conduct for kids, emphasizing respect, social media, expectations, opposition, referees; Mike suggested parents be involved; revisited Pre-K (specifically revisiting the idea of pushing kids up to Kindergarten); GK evaluation discussed but nothing proposed for this year’s PPE sessions, but PCD group felt development is lacking.
    2. ADOC has done everything off his checklist; hopefully we’ll know status by June.

 

  1. Treasurer
    1. Motion: To accept April 2018 Financials as presented by Dave Z., 2nd by Fernando, 16-0-0 Motion passes;

 

  1. VP of Administration
    1. 17 Scholarship applicants; extended deadline at request of 2 candidates who were awaiting letters of recommendation;
    2. No kickback due to structural concerns of building inspector.
  2. Travel
    1. We will have informational meeting with incoming 3rd grade parents and coaches Friday May 11th to discuss evaluations, applications, coaches (prior to the 2nd grade TBG on Friday);
    2. Middlesex AGM meeting held, where a new president, Sean McCarthy from Stoneham was elected;
    3. Referee Issues with Middlesex: 5:00 make up game (currently underway with Coach Jill Murphy) – there was no referee for the game so Darwin stepped in to referee the game;
    4. TSC meeting prior to PPE, John ready to go, looking for volunteers;
    5. Coaches will be getting spring evaluation sheets in the next week due at the end of the month;
    6. Survey monkey will be getting sent out in coming weeks to allow parents to evaluate coaches;
    7. WYSA Board (by 18-0-0 straw vote) will offer to host Commissioners Cup; need to reline for additional 9v9, maybe use Shawsheen Tech;
    8. Special Attention to 2nd graders; using 3 pillars for U10 and U12, additional special attention to U14.

 

  1. Registration
    1. No Updates

 

  1. Fundraising
    1. The 99 fundraiser went well with almost 100 in attendance;
    2. The Calendar raffle was also a success generating $2300;
    3. We have a new sponsor, Align Credit Union, who donated $750;
    4. June 1st Cornhole tournament is a go; need raffle baskets

 

  1. Travel Refs
    1. Game coverages handled this season, but to date, we have 1 or 2 games per game day with 1 or no AR; 5/5 coverage especially a problem due to turn backs - track meet/club commitment/family commitments - working on coverage;
    2. Mid-week games including Sunday presenting challenge due to lack of available refs;
    3. All U10 Centers covered and giving exposure to "seasoned" referees to build confidence to take on U12 games and above in the Fall, Adding 1st year refs to lower level U10 games to get them game experience;
    4. Darwin held 1 Sunday pick up game U10 boys and had 2 brand new referees take the helm.  Provided game exposure and field training;
    5. Darwin looking to support another young referee and help overcome negative comments from coaches about that particular referee.

 

  1. Intown & Intown Refs
    1. We have 468 Intown players and 95 coaches (5% increase from 2017);
    2. Grade 2 First Communion weeks; will combine teams as needed.  Increased rosters sizes should assist with allowing games to continue;
    3. There will be no 3-5 Intown age group for the Fall of 2018; low enrollment each of last two seasons have caused us to cancel the program (Mike will email in advance of travel try-outs);
    4. Patch weekend to be June 2 (Pre-K) or 9 (for the rest of the age groups);
    5. Memoria day parade - announcement will give details in advance;
    6. Absent more rain-outs, season will not be extended into the Commissioner’s Cup weekend;
    7. Fall 2018 registration expected to open June 1st.
  2. Fields & Buildings
    1. New nets for Woburn Street; just need new brackets

 

  1. Merchandise
    1. No updates

 

  1. Concessions
    1. April numbers low due to rain;
    2. Discussion surrounding the concessions at Yentile; town puts limits on use of concessions facility there; trial run generated $35; staffing costs and storage limitations a great concern; based on the number of games there, Paul believes the costs associated with running concessions at Yentile is not worth the benefits.

 

  1. Webmaster
    1. No updates
  2. Director of Coaching
    1. Motion: (as amended) To allow funds not to exceed $1700 for John to get C license, by Tom, 2nd Fernando, motion passes 18-0-0; training will take place over the course of several months with week long training from July 21-28;
    2. August training discussed; August clinic and PDP 13-16th 8-12, also evening sessions, PDPs, Pre-K to 6th; details to be sent out by John via email shortly;
    3. April vacation clinic; request for 2 day reimbursement; 5 WHS volunteers (who are interested in continuing to volunteer); Coach Raphael assisted
    4. Skills Academy on-going, some good numbers on Boys side, low numbers on girls side; Jamboree to be held June 3rd;
    5. Looking to host 7v7, 9v9, and 11v11 US Soccer Coaches Diploma in August (Sundays at Shawsheen);
    6. Mid-season coaching clinic to be conducted on May 16, 2018 from 5-6;
    7. PPE discussion: TD evaluating players during practice; goalie evaluation planned - 15-20 minute window); we will have MassYouth or Challenger help for PPE; volunteers still needed.
  3. New Business
    1. Reimbursement: Discussion whether or not we will reimburse for two missed days of April camps; motion to reimburse the two days by Tom, 2nd by Dave O. (to refund half of April clinic); motion passes 16-1-1;
    2. GK Clinic: GK clinic to beheld last week of July, half of fields, four hours,a day for four days; detail to follow to membership via email;
    3. Next Meeting: June 3rd, 2018
