Board of Directors Meeting Minutes

Directors Present: Manny Mulas,  Rich Pereira, Nick Howie, Eric Flynn, Melissa Doherty,  Dave Foresyth, Bob Regan, Joe Maiella, Dave Zaya, Bill Lanagan, Tom Card, Sean Broussard, Neil Buckley, Dave O’Mahony and Dave Oatis

 

Directors Absent: Paul Malvone

 

Guests: Eric Redder, Mike King, Billy Long, Mike Fischer and Chris Parr

  1. Meeting called to order at 6:05 pm by Eric Flynn
     
  2. President Opening Remarks:

    1. Annual General Meeting (AGM) set for November 17th at 7pm at the Wilmington Middle School auditorium.Eric will reach out to board members to finalize AGM slides.AGM after party will be held this year at Tremezzo.

  1. Secretary:
    1. Motion: To accept the October Board of Directors meeting minute as presented.  Moved: Doherty, 2nd by Pereira, 13-0-0 Motion Passes.
    2. Mass Youth Adult Registration/CORI checks and 2017 lanyard policy.  Sleeves and lanyards have been ordered and are upstairs in the shack.  We are waiting on next steps from Mass Youth on how we should implement this.
    3. Final Constant Contact newsletter was sent for 2016.  Next newsletter to be sent in early 2017.
       
  2. Treasurer
    1. Motion: To accept the treasurer’s report as presented.  Moved: Card, 2nd by Buckley, 12-0-1 Motion Passes.
       
  3. Merchandise
    1. Motion: Donate $150 to Breast Cancer Research Foundation from profits of October pink merchandise items sold.  Moved: Pereira, 2nd by Foresyth, 13-0-01 Motion Passes.
    2. Shack inventory will be reduced and we will sell only critical items like backpacks, sweatshirts, shirts and impulse type buys umbrellas, hats, gloves, etc.
  1. Fields & Buildings
    1. Small frames are off at Woburn Street.  Nets have to be taken off and stored for the Winter.
    2. Trash barrels were stolen from the Shawsheen recently.
    3. 7v7 frames need to be looked at the Woburn Street prior to the Spring as one of them has posts issues that need to be addressed.
    4. We should have use of Yentile Farms 11v11 field in the Spring.
    5. Dave Oatis will winterize the shack.

  3. Concessions
    1. No updates as Paul was not in attendance.
       
  4. Director of Coaching
    1. CATZ Winter training will be offered to the membership and WYSA will receive $20 for every signup.
    2. Mass Youth Workshop will be held on January 28th.  WYSA will be sending board members that are interested. 
       
  5. VP of Administration
    1. No updates were discussed.
       
  6. VP of Development
    1. Winter Clinics start first weekend of January. We will allow sign ups until the last minute to fill the sessions.
    2. Assistant Director of Coaching role next steps will be discussed at the next PCD meeting later in November.
       
  7. Travel
    1. MTOC and Commissioners Cup dates are set. 
    2. High school player placements are set for November 19th with November 20th for the rain out date.
       
  8. Fundraising
    1. Equipment purchase proposals will be discussed at the December meeting for new pugs, kickbacks, etc.
       
  9. Travel Refs
    1. There are multiple local referee certification classes that will be available for any 14 year old girl or boy if they are interested.  We will send out some targeted email communications to those groups.
       
  10. Intown & Intown Refs
    1. Season wrap ups are happening.  Patch day was a success.
       
  11. New Business
    1. Dual Age/Single Age discussion.  The following paths were discussed at the recent PCD meeting: single age, single age but dual age at 7th/8th grade, dual age with a 3 year roll out and dual age for entire program with no roll out.
      1. Considerations: All of Middlesex is Dual & membership has voiced backing for both single and dual age at various points.

      2. The BOD did an informal vote/straw poll for three options before official voting and motions began: single age, dual age all ages, dual age for 7th and 8th grade only.About less than a 3rd of the room was for single age.

      3. Motion: Implement travel dual age with a three year roll out starting in Fall 2017.Moved Mulas, 2nd by Lanagan.Motion Passes 8-6-0.Single age was dropped in the motion as an option.

  4. Motion: To adjourn BOD meeting at 8:32 pm.  Motion passes 14-0-0.
